ARE LIONS HEADING FOR EXTINCTION?

Unfortunately the answer to this is a resounding yes!

From birth lions have a constant struggle to survive, mortality in cubs are high, those who survive must struggle with many diseases such as BTB and Anthrax.  In South Africa BTB is spreading at an alarming rate and many of the lions in the Kruger are already affected by BTB (See more info on the Diseases page on this web).

Canned and other hunting as well as killing lions for their bones supersedes the number of lions dying from "natural" causes and diseases in National Parks through Africa.
