PANTHERA LEO KRUGERI
White Lions are not albinos
but an unusual genetic strain of Panthera Leo, possessing a recessive gene. They have been born naturally, in the Timbavati region of South Africa, to tawny prides. They have survived, in the wild, successfully for many years.
The last white lion observed, naturally, was during 1994. With an absence of national or international law, to protect them they were just about extinct and become the trophy for all hunters.
Happily there are many organisations and areas where the white lions can once again flourish despite the absence of laws protecting them.
The common believe that white lions could not survive in the wild (it is stated that only 20% survive) due to their colour remains a myth and there are quite a few places where they hunt naturally.

As hunting is a natural instinct I believe that all white lions has just the same chance for survival than the tawny ones. There are a few places in South Africa where white lions are fending for themselves.
Lions adapt to their habitat and circumstances as the need arises.
Hungry lions soon learned to hunt on elephants/hippo’s and crocodiles etc, due to their individual pride’s circumstances.
So will the white lions use whatever opportunities is available to them, they will learn from their mistakes and with the survival instincts and hunger driving them they will soon adapt to their own hunting strategies, be it using night time and/or ambush tactics.
All prides are different and what works for one does not necessary work for another pride. If 20% can survive, given a chance even more could.
Lions are survivors; they have always been, till man got involved, and since then, the life of lions have been turned upside down.
Man introduced hunting, because the money was good, diseases by livestock because we needed more land, breeding for more hunting, inbreeding because lions are being used as machines to breed and breed, not for a healthier lion population but because of greed.
